Opening speech by viceadm. direktør, Thomas Bustrup:
For years, the question in Danish business was: Where are the women.
Today, the answer is clearer: They are here. On boards, in management, in leadership. Role models and pioneers who have shifted the culture of our largest companies. More women are taking their rightful seats at the table—an achievement worth celebrating.
But progress is never the end of the story. It is only the beginning.
Let’s keep Denmark at the forefront. And let’s help each other to do even better.
Because all talents must be brought into play—for the sake of diversity, and for the sake of a strong and prosperous future. Let’s keep going.
Key note: Rufus Gifford, former Danish Ambassador: Call for Action: What is the Future of DE&I?
EU’s 40% Boardroom Challenge Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) have become central themes in global discussions on business and governance. But in a time of political pushback and new regulatory demands, what does the future hold for DEI efforts? Do we need to pay a special attention to the evolving landscape of diversity with a special attention to the EU law on gender balance on corporate boards, effective by June 2026?

Rufus Gifford is a senior aide to Presidents Obama, Biden and Vice President Harris, civic leader, public speaker and advocate for Democratic causes. From 2013 to 2017, Rufus served as U.S. Ambassador to Denmark. His pioneering tenure as Ambassador has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, the Atlantic, CNN, and Vice News, among many other national and international outlets, and he has spoken extensively across Denmark and the United States about his efforts to break down walls and humanize the work of government. Today Rufus has established The Elrod Gifford Group.
