ABOUT WOMEN’S BOARD AWARD
For a decade Women’s Board Award has recognized and celebrated women, who have the qualifications to further their carrier towards becoming chair of the board in high-profile companies.
PURPOSE
With an ambition to foster and showcase talent, address bias, break down barriers, promote diversity, ensure equality and inclusion, educate – and motivate – the purpose and goal is to pave the way for getting more women in leadership including the boardrooms. In Denmark, only one out of four board members are women and half of the boards don’t have a single female member, which is what Women’s Board Award seeks to challenge. It’s the only award of its kind naming and presenting qualified female talent for chair of the board positions.
The key is to create a positive platform, to motivate men to contribute and bare their insecurities and lack of tools to create change. By highlighting solutions and opportunities, promote the positive examples, situations, results.
The overall purpose of Women’s Board Award is to statue why it is common sense to integrate diversity and gender perspective into our businesses. Not as a politically correct thing to do but simply as a necessity to survive in a dynamic and disruptive business environment. And in this connection the Women’s Board Award focus is to ‘help’ and inspire the (gender) homogeneous boards (and leadership teams) to change.
THE PRIZEGIVING EVENT
Women’s Board Award celebrated its 10th anniversary in Denmark in January 2024 with an event for 200 VIP-guests from different industrial sectors invited by partners. The event itself lasts for one and a half hour with short keynotes, speeches, and the award ceremony is followed by a dinner for partners, the jury, the nominated as well as keynotes.
